Hello to all landlubbers and salty dogs alike.   You have stumbled upon Nikki and Dennis' sailing blog.

These pages will document the passage of our boat "Knotty Lady" from Long Beach California to Brisbane Australia over the course of 2012.

We purchased the Hunter Legend 40.5 in September 2011 when we visited the US.    We then went back to Australia until Feb 2012 to continue working while we had a few things done on the boat.  We will spend the next month or so fitting the boat out in preparation for our voyage to the Marquesas in French Polynesia which will be our longest passage and first major stop.   From there we will island hop our way back home as slowly as possible to maximize our time in paradise.

First day out sailing and it feels great to have left the dock at Wilmington after 2 weeks of hard work, but the work has only just begun.  We still anticipate another 2 or 3 weeks of preparation once we reach the marina at Long Beach.

  1. Blue skies and fair seas my friends. It will take you a month to get into the 'real' feeling of cruisin... Remember there is no rush... your ship will keep you save... have faith.
